2nd ARDENT Workshop and Mid-term Review
The Workshop took place in Milano during the 150th anniversary of the Politecnico di Milano. ESRs presented their work for the Mid-Term Review and useful information was exchanged. Experts were invited to deliver training courses on experimental micro- and nanodosimetry.

"ARDENT per tutti" during the 2nd ARDENT Workshop
Several tables were employed for the demonstration of our scientific activities to invited school students and people in the Politecnico. ESRs from CERN demonstrated the Medipix device and S. Puddu gave a presentation in the provided amphitheatre.

IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD 2013 in Seoul, Korea
I followed mostly the Nuclear Science Symposium and especially the talks about Gaseous Detectors & Neutron Detection.
Two papers were presented in this conference; I presented the poster "The Triple GEM detector for relativistic hadron beams" and S. Puddu presented orally the "Neutron Beam Profile Measurements with a Triple GEM for Thermal Neutrons at the CERN n_TOF Facility", in which I appear as co-author.

This one-day course provided an introduction to the design and use of instruments for the detection of subatomic particles. The main part of the course was devoted to interactions of particles in matter and detector principles.

The ARDENT collaboration was invited to perform measurements in the West Proton Therapy Centre of Essen (WPE) with BSS, with view to measuring the neutron spectra in various positions and comparing the results to those obtained with detectors by other researchers.

NDRA 2014 Neutron School in Riva del Garda
The aim of the school was to illustrate principles, methodologies and most recent applications of neutron detection technologies. In particular, the school dealt with neutron-matter interaction principles suitable to neutron detection, materials for neutron detectors, signal processing, Monte Carlo simulation codes and interdisciplinary applications of neutrons.
A poster was also presented in a dedicated session, titled "Performance of the Triple GEM detector for low energy neutrons at the CERF facility".

A Triple GEM detector for fast neutrons and 10x10 cm2 active area was tested at the beam dump of EAR1 of nTOF. The detector was characterized for its performance and the beam profile was measured.

The Workshop took place in Schwarzenbruck, Germany. Scientific results were presented over one and a half days and a poster session plus two seminars were organized. A two-days training course on Quality Assurance in Therapy and Diagnostics and on Semiconductor Detectors was part of the workshop. More information can be found in the dedicated website.
n_TOF Collaboration meeting

Presentation at the n_TOF Collaboration meeting
A presentation titled "Beam profile measurements with the GEM detector at the n_TOF EAR1 Beam Dump" was given on the 7th of October. Results from beam profile and time-of-flight measurements at 200m from the target for slow and fast neutrons were discussed.

Spectrometer construction at INFN-LNF
The neutron spectrometer designed over the last year was constructed at the INFN of Frascati. The first tests for its capability of measuring neutron spectra will be performed soon.
Workshop on Neutron Detection with MPGDs

Presentation at the Second Special Workshop on Neutron Detection with MPGDs
A presentation titled "Profiling of the nTOF beam with the GEM detector" was given on the 16th of February with the final results from the experiment at nTOF performed in October 2014. The spectrometer recently constructed was also introduced as an alternative to the time-of-flight technique for measuring neutron spectra.

The neutron spectrum was measured on the concrete roof of the CERF facility in positions CT4, 7 and 15 and on the iron roof in position IT4 with the new spectrometer .
