Description:Introduction to FLUKA/FLUPIX Monte Carlo code by Dr. Sofia Rollet. The code is meant to be used to simulate dose to phantom by the neutron and photon beam from the Mainz TRIGA reactor.

Description: Representing Canadian space radiation community on behalf Dr. Anthony Waker. The workshop informed the scientific community about the utilization of CNES stratospheric balloons while the participants identified Canadian scientific and technological objectives requiring balloon flights.

Description: This workshop was the first annual workshop organised by ARDENT. It's goal was to gather all ESRs and the respective supervisors in order to have an overview of the evolution in the different research projects. It was a good occasion to meet all the representatives from the different institutions and an excellent opportunity for us ESRs to know each other better. This workshop was highlighted by the visit to the MedAustron Cancer treatment facility which is actually in construction near Vienna.

Description: The ECR annual symposium was an excellent conference on radiology and oncology. It was my first big meeting with the experts in this field with more than 20 000 medical specialists. I was able to attend to the different lectures in person and online which were directly related to my PhD studies.

Description: This course is focused on working principal and application of various types of lasers that are commonly used in medical field. Even though this course is not directly related to my field of study, it is one of the mandatories courses at the Medical University of Vienna.

Description:Visit of the oncology center of the Vienna General Hospital. Various machines have been presented in order for me to get an idea of the physical limitations for the proposed phantom. Besides the treatment planning system equipment some commotional and experimental phantoms have been introduced with their working principals and functionality by Dr. Georg Dietmar.

Description: Meeting with Dr. Aaron Vandermeer who is medical physicist at Lakeridge Health Hospital who resented their radiation therapy phantoms. We discussed features of more complex phantoms. He also suggested some changes to my correct design in order to make the phantom more human like.

Description: The course went over basic set up of this Monte Carlo code. The instructors introduce simple ways how to create more complex geometries by the use of graphical editor, set different physics cards, obtain the wanted readouts and to debug the code. I highly appreciate the newly learned transformation and translation for fast and simple geometry modifications.

Description: The Workshop took place in Milano during the 150th anniversary of the Politecnico di Milano. ESRs presented their work for the Mid-Term Review and useful information was exchanged. Experts were invited to deliver training courses on experimental micro- and nanodosimetry.

Description: The usage of common and specific software packages that are important in science were described, in particular: Adobe Photoshop; Endnote; GraphPad Prism, Sigmaplot (as well as the following scientific freeware: ImageJ , WinMDI (cytometry analyses) Cn3D, Rasmol, Chimera (3D visualization of molecules). In addition, various scientific databases were described in more detail.

Description: The course was focused on basis of MRI like different signals (T1, T2, T2*), orientation of spins in space under the influence of magnetic field and various reading techniques such as contrast enhance imaging, dynamic imaging and fast spin echo imaging.

Description: The main objective of this course where covering the history and justification of patent system, types of intellectual property rights and contracts, the patent application process, research of novelty, biopatents, license contracts. Moreover, the lectures touched on the topic of market research and project management.

Description: During my visit in Canada I gave my first ARDENT outreach presentation at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology to the PhD and Master students of nuclear engineering faculty. The presentation was very successful as students showed a great interest in various detectors used within ARDENT proven by the hour long question section. In addition, the school was interested in buying the educational Medipix toolkit produced by Jablotron.

Description: Various dose profiles were measured by the use of Ru-106 source (standard eye applicator) and PTW micro-diamond detector prototype. The measurement will be used for eye melanoma TPS benchmarking.

Description: Medical LINACs require daily, monthly and annually check in order to verify that the machine can deliver prescribe dose to a patient. QA is being done by the use of different TPS setups while mechanical and radiation output of the machine is evaluated.

Description: The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) is the annual meeting of the European Society of Radiology (ESR). It was my second time attending this massive 20 000 participants conference. The program included 1500 oral scientific and educational presentations related to the state-of the-art cancer diagnostics and treatment methods.
