I had a short visit and explanation of radiation facilities at Seibersdorf Laboratories, on 1 August, 2013. I was taken around the facilities in Seibersdorf for familiarization by Dr. Peter Beck. I had a short visit to the in-house irradiation facility.

I took part in radiation exposure tests on semiconductor wafers at irradiation facility in Seibersdorf Laboratories under Dr. Michael Wind's supervision.

Shielding investigations for electronic components

I was a part of the Austrian Delegation to the fifty-first session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space at the United Nation Office at Vienna, Vienna International Center, Vienna, Austria. I attended the technical presentations and general exchange sessions on especially Space-weather and forecasting activities

Beginner Tutorial Course for Geant4 simulation toolkit, organized by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Stanford University, USA

Small Satellites: Chances and Challenges, at Faculty of Law, University of Vienna

The conference was organized by the Austrian National Point of Contact for Space Law. I attended the talks by invited speakers on topics ranging from funding of small-satellite missions to technical and legal aspects of such missions.

Shielding experiments at AKH, Vienna

I carried out experiments to get indicators for shielding-performance of various set-ups using Aluminium and Tantalum.
This was done for the e²-RAD project at the ELEKTA Linear Accelerator facility at Allgemeines Krankenhaus (AKH), Vienna.

MiND-IBCT Workshop (Micro- and Nano-Dosimetry for Ion Beam Cancer Therapy) at MedAustron, Wiener Neustadt

The workshop provided a forum for scientific exchange of on the following topics related to ion-beam therapy:

Microdosimetry, Nanodosimetry, Track structure modelling, Biophysical models linking track structure and biological effects

ARDENT Entrepeneurship and Project Management Training Course at CERN, Geneva

The intensive training course covered the following topics: Knowledge and Technology Transfer, Project Management Entrepreneurship for Scientists, IP rights and management.

TEPC experiments HIMAC,Chiba (Japan)

For the purpose of characterization measurements of a Tissue Equivalent Proportional Counter (TEPC) in high-energy proton radiation field, I went as a part of team to perform experiments at Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator (HIMAC) in National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Chiba (Japan)
This activity was also a part of EuCPAD - European Crew Personal Active Dosemeter project and Seibersdorf Laboratories is a participating partner in TEPC construction and characterization.

2014 IEEE Nuclear & Space Radiation Effects Conference (NSREC 2014) at Paris(France)

This conference featured a one day "Short Course" ending with a short exam and 3 1/2 days of Technical Sessions consisting of 8 -10 sessions of contributed papers describing the latest observations in radiation effects broadly falling under the following areas :

Mechanisms of Radiation Effects in Electronics; Space, Atmospheric, and Terrestrial Radiation Effects, Hardness Assurance Technology and Testing

The workshop provided a forum for scientific exchange and the Industrial Exhibit provided with opportunities for interaction with commercial companies in Radiation Physics. I co-presented a poster describing some the results from e²-RAD project during the poster session.

Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Physics School on "Ionizing Radiation and Protection of Man" at Bad Honnef, Germany

The intensive advanced training course This course is funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation and it provided a high level comprehensive overview on the present status of knowledge, future perspectives of research as well as on the open questions of the interdisciplinary, highly up-to-date field of radiation protection during 80 lectures, tutorials, experimental trainings and seminars.

Annual ARDENT Workshop at IBA, Schwarzenbruck (Germany)

The workshop was co-organised by CERN and IBA. The ARDENT Annual Workshop gathered together the ESR's, Supervisors and Partners. A poster session and progress-presentation was done by each ESR. In addition, there was training course on Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy and Diagnostics. I assisted and carried out irradiation experiments at the Co-60 Irradiation facility in Seibersdorf laboratories, to measure the degradation of electrical parameters of Commercial Over The Shelf (COTS) power MosFET's for the ESA co-ordinated European Components Initiative (ECI) project.

The final presentation of the e²-RAD project was in ESA/ESTEC, Netherlands along with the final presentations of other ESA-coordinated and funded projects in topics broadly falling in the area of Radiation Hardness Assurance.

SEGR/SEB Tests in COTS components

Dr. Michael Wind and I carried out a measurement campaign for ECI project on the 11th of February 2015 at the RADEF heavy ion facility of the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The investigated devices are two p-channel power MosFET's: SPD04P10G from Infineon and STS3P6F6 from ST-microelectronics.The main objective of the experiments was to investigate the safe operating area of these two devices in a high LET radiation environment, i.e. in heavy ion fields having surface LETs within a range of 18.5 to 60 MeV.cm²/mg

Business and Administration Secondment at IBA Dosimetry

I visited IBA Dosimetry, Schwarzenbruck for a 2-week training period in product-management under the supervision of Mr. Salih Arican, Senior Product Mangaer. The business-domain was Radiotherapy solutions and Quality Assurance activities in particular. The specific activities included: Competition analyses for Daily Quality Assurance solutions, Market assessment,Financial calculations for profitability/viability of Product for a Positioning paper.

CNES/ESA Radiation Effects Final Presentation Days

This was the sixth CNES ESA joint final presentation days in the field of EEE Component radiation effects. It covered recent final results of CNES and ESA R&D activities. I presented the results on behalf of the project group, from ECI project regarding measurement campaigns for TID and SEGR in commercial Power MosFET's (from Infineon and STM)and also presented the status and overview of REDI (Radiation Evaluation of Digital Isolators) project. It also provided a good opportunity to exchange contacts with other groups working in Radiation Hardness Assurance

Visit to AIT Techbase

I visited the Energy Department of Austria Institute of Technology (AIT) Techbase in Vienna to gather information about High Voltage testing of Electronic components. My special thanks to Mr. Biswas Sumantha, Engineer at AIT, for sharing information and also for giving me a short-tour of their laboratory facilities.

I assisted and carried out irradiation experiments at the Co-60 Irradiation facility in Seibersdorf laboratories, to measure the degradation of electrical parameters of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Digital Isolators for the ESA co-ordinated Radiation Evaluation of Digital Isolators (REDI) project. Tested part was ADuM1201ARZ from Analog Devices.

Talk on Radiation Physics and Radiation Hardness Assurance

I gave a talk to high-school students at American International School about basics of Radiation Physics and introduced my work in Radiation Hardness Assurance. This was followed by an extended discussion session.

Ongoing secondment to familiarize and gain understanding for Single Event Transient and Single Event Latch-up Experiments in Digital Isolators.

4th Annual ARDENT Workshop

The final ARDENT workshop was hosted by the IEAP at the Masarykova Kolej venue, on the main grounds of Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague. The training workshop covered topics of neutron dosimetry and radiobiology.
